Michael & Rachel - From a Nervous Beginning to a Magical First Dance
Michael and Rachel came to us with no dance experience. The idea of having a choreographed first dance felt exciting, but it also made them a little nervous. Still, they decided to give it a try, and over the course of ten lessons, they transformed from nervous beginners to people who were comfortable in their own movement.
Their song choice was an acoustic cover of “I Try” by Macy Gray. We designed a romantic routine with a touch of playfulness, so it felt comfortable and genuine rather than overly formal.
Rachel and Michael approached every lesson with enthusiasm. They practiced outside of class, picked up each new step with patience, and gradually grew more confident together. By the time their wedding day arrived, they were ready to step onto the floor with ease.
There was one unexpected twist, the dance ended up taking place in a different location than planned, on a floor surface that made spins trickier for Rachel. Instead of letting it throw them off, they adapted in the moment and created an unforgettable experience for themselves and their guests.
“Highly recommend Michael and Amy for private dance lessons! In preparation for our wedding, we searched for dance teachers to help us choreograph a dance to our favorite song. Despite us having zero experience, Michael and Amy were patient, kind, and encouraging as we progressed from learning basic steps to practicing our full routine. They were able to tailor the dance to our skill level while keeping the choreography interesting and fun - our guests loved it! Michael and Amy were responsive and flexible in accommodating our volatile schedules, and also provided practical tips for dancing in a wedding dress / suit, dancing on different surfaces, etc. They’re excellent at what they do and it shows. We really enjoyed the whole process and hope to continue with group classes!”
